Many beautifully preserved fossils from the Eocene Epoch were discovered in the suburb of Geebung, north of Brisbane, during construction of the rail overpass
The discovery included fossilised limpets, snails, ostracods (seed shrimp),
fish and even very rare remains of a frog and a crocodile
The types of animals discovered suggests that the environment
at the time was probably tidal, with some freshwater
Fossil pollen suggests that the area was close to rainforest
